Louisiana Home & Garden Show

This weekend is the Louisiana Home and Garden Show at the Superdome and Central City Millworks is please to announce that we will be in attendance, displaying some of our finest work.  Come see us at Booth 672 to see some of our bracket designs, shutters, railing & balusters and much more.  While there you can look at our full portfolio to see all of the gorgeous cabinetry, stairs, doors windows and other woodwork that we produce.  We will also be featuring out antique heart pine flooring.  Reclaimed heart pine is a better alternative to white or carribean pine because it is more durable, more fitting with New Orleans architecture, and “green” because it is all reclaimed material, not newly milled.

So if you are interested in New Orleans millworks, come by Booth 672 to meet Central City Millworks.

Green Project

Here at Central City Millworks we are constantly finding new ways to use old things.  Some of our machines are 60 years old; we often refurbish existing doors and windows; and we use a large amount of reclaimed wood to build our products.

We are participating in an upcoming event hosted by the New Orleans Green Project where we will showcase our commitment to recycling by using reclaimed wood to produce our entries.  All of the submissions for this event are required to be at least partly recycled or reclaimed and the objective is to make freestanding art, sculpture or furniture.

We are excited about this opportunity because people do not often think “Green” when they think about mill shops.  But at Central City Millworks we are deeply commited to recycling, refurbishing and reusing whenever we can.  All of the flooring we sell is reclaimed Heart Pine.  And we donate all the sawdust we produce to The Rescue Ranch – a nonprofit horse rescue group.

We are submitting two items to the event, a room divider and a table.  Check back then to see pictures of the completed items.  All entries will be on display at Canal Place from Feb 10th through March 14th.

And visit www.centralcitymillworks.com to see more of our woodwork.
